Working on smaller dolls, I was able to get the sculpting more refined and contour painting is helping. So wanted to show what they looked like last week and you can see they are now slowly accumulating clothing, hats, veils and human hair wigs. Mainly sleeves are needed for two of the dolls more a puff and slash kind. I am working out the details on this for the two German Cranach dolls. Which I think are coming along nicely. The Dutch doll in a pink doublet has some refining yet but is coming along.

There is still all the metallic embroidery in Opus Anglicanum to complete for the other Dutch Doll, Louise Juliana. Besides finding a way to create the great riding hat from wool fabric. I plan on stiffening hair and hats with more beeswax. It seems to make a nice firming agent without staining the fabrics unless very light colored.
Though I am happy with the progress so far I will need to be patient on the underdress embroidery. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Jugs and pitchers in hand since women holding containers is medieval. |
When sealing the faces and hands I have to be generous with a soft brush and it’s the water based glue. It does smear if I am too vigorous the details can be lost. This final stage requires some patience as you have to let it sit and dry. No fussing allowed or smudging of the details happens.
The details one learns by doing. Haveing much fun on this journey, hoping you are too.
