This is more about the research paper recently published by the Historic Environment Scotland website. I wanted to show these replicas as an example of how fashion dolls may have looked. Many as noted are carved wood or clay. That Mary and her mother in-law Catherine De Medici also had fashion dolls in her inventory. I found more pictures from the article on the replicas, these are NOT my work.
Although they are replica dolls made by a professional who based them off the descriptions from Mary Queen of Scots inventory. So this fills in some details on what affluent women kept as keepsakes and treasures of a personal nature. It’s a fascinating read and an interesting take on the topic.
