It’s Hammer Time

The miniature dolls have their layer of clay. As waiting for those to dry, working out the patterns for both dolls remaining. So skirts doublets for under layers and loose gowns for over layers. Then trim as needed. The ruff and cuffs are completed for both. I am working on some of the headdresses too. Lots to consider as the making continues. My goal is to have these completed by the end of the weekend. So here are the inspiration artwork for these.

I received a great question from a Laurel “ What makes this doll different than the other ones you have created?”  I thought  about the comparisons between dolls; differences are the year dates, the country of origin, the materials and some finishing techniques. Enough for doubling or tripling  up documentation and finding other doll types and techniques to expand upon. It’s a partial reason for the flurry of doll finishing these past few weeks. Although it’s been great joy to make them all. This will free up time to work on other dolls and to expand my documentation of different  dolls  beyond the fabric covered wire or wood bodies. More time for research and writing more varied classes on this varied interesting topic
