The next doll is not so exactly based on a particular portrait. Although I wanted to make an Italian gown but a later 1560’s Venetian-like style. I did have Eleanor of Toledo's portrait of the black and white gown in mind. In this case, I had found a teal fabric that had a Renaissance floral pattern in a flocked texture. It has synthetic fibers but the pattern was so good I lined it to give it more body and stability. Was totally worth using this fabric with the blue velvet fabric as the petticoat layer. With a white lace partlet and cuffs with gold trim for the outer gown and different trim for the petticoat. Also, make a necklace to compliment this gown and head covering.
I have some trim to consider for the next few gowns it’s fun to design these gowns, decorate, and accessorize them. Two down, Four more to go. Fulfilling when making something beautiful.
Good Stuff,
Marrin
